Wafi Mall in Dubai is an Egyptian-style shopping centre with over 250 stores, restaurants and leisure options. It is also referred to as the Wafi City Mall. Opened in 1991 in the Oud Metha area, it was one of the first big shopping complexes in Dubai. It is well-known for its characteristic design, inspired by Ancient Egypt, and you can find beautiful architectural elements both indoors and outside.
At Wafi City Mall, you can find an array of products, from fashion and jewellery to electronics and homeware, explore the traditional souk and even visit a futuristic digital art experience. In this guide, I will tell you all you need to know about the Wafi Mall shops, restaurants, attractions and wellness facilities for a day filled with fun.

Unique architecture of Dubai Wafi Mall
One aspect of Wafi Mall that I really should mention is its architecture. In general, I think the exterior is more striking, but you will also find many treasures inside. Drawing inspiration from the grandeur of Ancient Egypt, its design sets it apart from other shopping centres in Dubai. When you approach it you will notice the striking pyramid-shaped facade. The courtyard is adorned with hieroglyphics, columns, sphinx and pharaoh statues.
As you walk inside the Wafi City Mall, the Egyptian style will blend with the interiors, which can be traced in the main atrium with its high dome and stained glass windows. The architecture extends to the shops and restaurants as well, many of which are designed to mirror the mall’s overall aesthetic.
Moreover, one of my highlights was the visit to Khan Murjan Souk. It resembles a 14th-century bazaar in Baghdad. You can go inside its traditional shops, selling anything from textiles to Arabic teapots, or simply wander through intricate corridors for a couple of lovely photos.
Exploring Wafi Mall shops
Wafi Mall in Dubai offers a vast array of stores, but note that the selection caters mainly to local residents. Even though you will find several high-end fashion labels, you will notice predominately home-grown brand names. On the other hand, the good thing is that Wafi Citi shops are more budget-friendly when compared to luxurious shopping centres, such as the Dubai Mall and the Mall of the Emirates.
Apart from fashion items, you can find lots of other products from such categories as electronics, books, travel accessories, perfume, jewellery, watches, eyewear, beauty and healthcare. Moreover, you can do your daily grocery shopping at the Carrefour Hypermarket with its own attached parking.
Here are several Wafi City Mall shops:
- Balmain
- Baldinini
- Botego
- Canali
- Ferre Milano
- Kalash
- Life Pharmacy
- Matalan
- Pierre Cardin
- Sports 2000
- Wrangler
- The Toys Home
- Boots
The Khan Murjan Souk experience
A visit to Wafi City in Dubai is incomplete without stepping into the oriental Khan Murjan Souk. This traditional Arabian market is a treasure trove of handmade goods and local delicacies. It is modelled on a 14th-century Baghdad bazaar. Walking through the Khan Murjan Souk, with its beautifully carved wooden arches and colourful lanterns, is like stepping back in time.
The architecture is influenced by different regions of the Arab world, including Egypt, Morocco and Syria. The selection of products is vast, ranging from handmade carpets and intricately designed pottery to traditional Arabian clothing and antique silverware. Even though the market is not big, it is definitely worth a visit to immerse in the local culture.
Have Fun Dubai’s Tip: Moreover, the souk houses the charming Khan Murjan Restaurant with high ceilings and ornaments. It offers Lebanese, Iranian, Moroccan and Egyptian dishes, and it is even allowed to smoke shisha here.
Dining at Wafi Mall restaurants
After a day of shopping and exploring, nothing beats a good meal. And the Wafi Mall restaurants do not disappoint. The dining options here are very diverse, with many cuisines to choose from.
Apart from the Khan Murjan Restaurant, which I have mentioned above, another popular dining spot is Wafi Gourmet. It is a restaurant that serves Lebanese cuisine and features an outside terrace with beautiful views. Though not all dishes on the menu are top-notch, it is worth visiting the restaurant for its authentic ambiance.
For French breads and pastries, I suggest that you go to Paul Cafe. If you are a fan of aromatic coffee, grab a drink at Starbucks or visit ICONS Coffee Couture with a selection of healthier dessert options. Moreover, at Biella Cafe you can order a mouthwatering pizza or a fresh Italian salad, while Seville’s Spanish Tapas Bar is a great place for traditional small dishes from Spain.
Entertainment and attractions at Wafi Mall
Beyond shopping and dining, Wafi Mall in Dubai offers several great entertainment options.
- Aya Universe: I visited this digital art experience and I can confidently say it’s a must-do. Aya Universe at Wafi Mall is divided into 12 unique zones where you can explore the Cosmos, interact with objects and enjoy music and special effects.
- Vox Cinemas: For movie enthusiasts, Vox Cinemas at Wafi City Mall offers the latest blockbusters in a luxurious setting. The cinema features plush reclining seats and a gourmet menu, ensuring a nice cinematic experience.
- Pharaohs’ Club: Combining gyms, tennis courts and a rooftop pool, this is a great place to relax and stay active at the same time.
- Cleopatra’s Spa: To take a break from shopping and entertainment, I recommend going to Cleopatra’s Spa. This luxurious wellness centre features a range of treatments designed to rejuvenate the mind and body. They offer everything from facials and waxing to Balinese massage and Ayurveda treatments. However, take note that prices are on the high side.
Wafi Mall sales and discounts
One of the best times to visit Wafi City in Dubai is during its sale season. The mall offers a variety of discounts and promotions throughout the year, making shopping even more affordable. From fashion and electronics to homeware and wellness, the sales cover a range of products.
The mall’s annual Dubai Shopping Festival is a highlight. This month-long event in December and January offers massive discounts on a range of products, making it the perfect time to indulge in some retail therapy. Moreover, the festival features a number of events and activities, adding to the festive atmosphere.
