When is a beach season in Dubai

Wondering about the best time to visit Dubai’s beaches? The city is blessed with year-round sunshine, making it a perfect beach destination. However, the best time to visit Dubai beaches is during the cooler months, from October to May, when the temperature hovers around a comfortable 25-35 degrees Celsius.

During these months, the beaches come alive with tourists and locals, enjoying water sports, beachfront dining, leisurely walks along the waterfront or simply soaking up the sun. To be honest, summer months are not ideal, but it depends on your endurance. It gets scorching hot from June to September with temperatures rising up to 50°C and sea temperature to 33°C. Are Dubai beaches open 24 hours

Most public beaches in Dubai are open from sunrise to sunset, while some private beaches attached to hotels and resorts allow 24-hour access for their guests. Moreover, there are now several Dubai public beaches open for night swimming. They include Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3 and Umm Suqeim 1. They are equipped with floodlights and information screens to ensure visitors’ safety. A swim at night is a perfect way to cool off from the day’s heat, especially in the summer.

By the way, several beaches, such as the popular JBR Beach in Dubai Marina, also have illuminated sections that allow for activities, dining and walking along the promenade.

The Beach JBR

One of the most famous beaches in Dubai, The Beach at JBR, never fails to impress with its sparkling white sands, crystal-clear waters, as well as many waterfront dining, shopping and entertainment options. Jumeirah Beach Residences (or simply JBR) is one of my favourite seaside spots in the city. The Beach JBR is public, meaning that it’s one of the best Dubai free beaches where you can soak up the sun without any entry fee.

It is perfect for a laid-back day of sunbathing, swimming and people-watching. You can ride a camel, splash at the inflatable Aqua Fun Waterpark right next to the shore or rent a jet ski to explore the Arabian Gulf coastline.

As the sun sets, the beachfront comes alive with a vibrant nightlife scene. You can enjoy sumptuous meals at one of the numerous restaurants that line the beach, offering stunning views of the Arabian Gulf and the towering Ain Dubai Ferris Wheel in Bluewaters Island.

Check out the restaurants inside the Pavilion at The Beach food court, listen to live music at the Bla Bla Dubai or head to watch the latest blockbusters at the Roxy Cinemas. JBR is indeed a must-visit for those looking for a blend of beach relaxation and urban entertainment.

La Mer Beach (J1 Beach)

Until 2023, La Mer Beach was a vibrant destination in Jumeirah with Laguna Waterpark, a cinema, playgrounds, a shopping mall and a plethora of dining options. It was also famous for unparalleled views of Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai.

However, La Mer Beach has been closed down and is currently being remodelled into J1 Beach. It is set to be a luxury Riviera-style destination with multiple restaurants, beach clubs, swimming pools, sun loungers, boat piers and more. Among the upcoming dining venues are Baoli, African Queen, Gigi Rigolatto and Kaimana. J1 Beach Dubai is scheduled to open at the start of 2024, so you will soon be able to experience La Dolce Vita under the hot Arabian sun.

Currently, you can stay there at the Centara Mirage Beach Resort and Hotel Riu Dubai.

One of the highlights of Dubai Islands Beach is its stunning open views. You can even see Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah. The beach is distant, so you can expect a quiet environment. Moreover, Dubai Islands Beach is pet-friendly and suitable for walking your doggy.

There are also multiple facilities for sports, including volleyball and cycling, and a swimming pool. Furthermore, climb an observation tower to watch the park from above.

The beach itself is a serene spot where you can relax, swim and soak up the sun. One of the features of Mamzar Beach Park is its cabanas, which you can rent for the day. They offer comfort and direct beach access, making them ideal for family outings or group picnics. Moreover, the beach park offers a variety of recreational activities, including cycling and barbecue. Mondays and Wednesdays are ladies-only days.

The beach offers a tranquil environment, away from the city’s hustle and bustle, yet close to the famous Madinat Jumeirah Souk with its picturesque winding canals. Whether you want to relax on the beach, enjoy a swim or simply admire the scenic views, Madinat Jumeirah Beach is the perfect spot.

I should mention that one of the highlights of Madinat Jumeirah Beach is its stunning views of Burj Al Arab. As you relax on the beach, you can admire the iconic structure and the surrounding sea views. Moreover, the beach is well-equipped with facilities such as sunbeds, showers and a beach bar. Furthermore, with a day pass you can enjoy an infinity pool access at the Jumeirah Mina A’Salam. Of course, you can also decide to simply book one of the resort hotels to stay close to this beach.

By the way, it is well-known for its stunning views of the Dubai Marina skyline. As the sun sets, the beach becomes a vibrant party spot, with live music, DJs and delicious cocktails. Moreover, it is a frequent spot for dance music festivals, so check the program. With its blend of sun, sand and entertainment, Barasti Beach in Dubai will ensure a lovely day.

Of course, how could I not mention in my list Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark Beach, located in Palm Jumeirah. It’s part of the Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark, a thrilling aquapark featuring over 100 slides and attractions, a lazy river and a private beach. If you’re a thrill-seeker and a beach lover, then Atlantis Beach is made for you.

You can spend a day trying out different water slides and then relax on the white sandy beach with great views of the Dubai skyline and the Arabian Gulf. Moreover, you will find plenty of dining options in the waterpark, where you can enjoy delicious meals. Got excited? To access the beach, you can buy a day ticket to the Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark. Alternatively, consider staying at the classic Atlantis The Palm or a modern Atlantis The Royal hotel. As a guest, you will have unlimited access to the beach and the aquapark.

You can sip your favourite cocktail enjoying amazing views of the Dubai Marina skyline, gigantic Ain Dubai and the Arabian Gulf. Moreover, the beach is well-equipped with facilities such as sunbeds and a beach bar.

The good news is that more than 50% of the day pass price is redeemable, so you can spend it on food and drinks.

It is a famous Insta-worthy spot and a favourite among beach party lovers. If you get hungry, head to the restaurant offering European and international dishes or simply sip a tasty cocktail while enjoying the beautiful panorama of Dubai Marina.

Beaches for ladies

For those who love a good beach party, Dubai doesn’t disappoint. Head to Barasti Beach or Beach by FIVE for a day of fun. Besides, spots like Nikki Beach and Zero Gravity are famous for their lively atmosphere, music and beach parties that last till the wee hours of the night.

Night swimming beaches

Dubai’s balmy evenings are perfect for a night swim. Umm Suqeim 1 Beach, better known as Sunset Beach, is one of the few beaches in Dubai that offer night swimming facilities, with lifeguards on duty and well-lit areas. Alternatively, head to Jumeirah 2 and Jumeirah 3.

Dubai beach dress code

Dubai is a cosmopolitan city but it’s also part of a predominantly Muslim country, which means modesty is appreciated. Do not worry, at the beach or by the pool, regular swimwear is acceptable, just avoid too transparent or revealing clothing.

If you decide to leave the beach and head to the streets for a while, I strongly advise you to cover up. In simple words, do not walk in beachwear in the streets, as you may be fined and it is against the local customs and traditions.

What to pack for a beach day in Dubai

Make sure to pack a swimsuit, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a beach towel. If you plan to picnic, bring along some snacks and, of course, plenty of water.

Beach rules and etiquette
